Following this run, the harsh weather, with consistently high heat and humidity in Tokyo, left him exhausted, despite careful preparation.

`It’s really too hot. Before going to Tokyo, I prepared by practicing running in high temperature and humidity conditions for about three months. I thought I was in ideal conditions to excel on the track.

Even though Tiermann did not set a PB, nor could he reach the top 3 to bring a medal back to Australia, the image of him trying to reach the finish line in Tokyo still caused a fever in his home country and on social networks.
