The decision was announced by Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training Nguyen Thanh Trung at a training session on nCoV prevention in schools, with leaders of 24 districts, on the afternoon of February 6.

Previously, on the same morning, the Department of Education and Training proposed giving students an extra day off to prevent the disease from entering and spreading in the school environment and ensuring the health of students.

Currently, 62 provinces and cities have allowed students to leave school until February 9.

In the university sector, many schools also give students extra leave such as: Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry, Vinh Long University of Technical Education, Lac Hong University, Eastern University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law.

During the press conference yesterday afternoon, Minister – Head of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung said that to ensure absolute safety for students when the nCoV epidemic reaches the peak, provinces and cities can give students an additional 1-day break.

According to Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Huu Do, if the break time must be extended because of the epidemic, the school year time frame may be longer, after May 31.

Ho Chi Minh City has 3 positive cases of nCoV, of which one patient treated at Cho Ray Hospital has recovered and been discharged.

The pneumonia condition of the Vietnamese-American male being treated at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases has not improved.

There are also 9 people suspected of being infected with nCoV being quarantined at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases, 2 at Cu Chi General Hospital, 2 at Vinmec Hospital and 1 Children’s Hospital.
